Bits and Pieces

Image
This is the indoor foyer between our room and the Platinum pool.  This little guy was spotted by me, then ran behind our huge curtains and disappeared. The next time I saw him- he was staring at me ON MY NIGHTGOWN as I was putting it on.  We saw several monkeys, including this baby one eating a banana.  My little makeup bag, hand embroidered by Renee, had to go on a photo to show her I took it to Mexico.  Fancy and yummy drinks were fun every day.  These five guys were initially seen by us at the airport and on our bus. We found out we were at the same resort. They were drinking a lot, but really fun guys. We actually bonded with them after scolding them lightly to make good choices in life and wear sunscreen. We saw them every day, got hugs when we said goodbye,  and might even keep in touch.  And all too soon, it was time to go home again.

Our First Mexican Excusion

Image
This was our fifth time in Mexico- but the first time we even wanted to book an excursion.  After a few days of reading and relaxing, we booked a day trip on a catamaran to Isla Mujeres, an island off Cancun’s shore. The sail included food and beverages, snorkeling and ocean breezes. We ended up having to wait 40 minutes for a late crowd to arrive to fill our boat, which meant our crew used the engine to save time and cut out snorkeling time short- however, it was still thrilling and beautiful! While we had to wait to dock on the island, we had the opportunity to jump off the boat and swim, using a guide rope to fight the current back to the ladder.  The water was turquoise, warm and amazing!  On the island, we bargained ourselves a decent deal on a golf cart rental ($50/2hours, fuel included) thanks to the catamaran crew’s knowledge of going rates. We drove the perimeter, got out for a quick walk to see the view at the southern tip, and had a great time.  Thi...

Mexico

Ahhh- although getting up super early in the morning to catch a flight isn’t exactly fun, it was wonderful to arrive at our Sunset Princess resort with some daytime hours left. We had a ground level suite, which meant coatis enjoyed lounging on our deck chairs, pooping in the corner of the patio, and napping in our towels, but also meant very easy access to our room from the pool areas. Good and bad… we missed the calories burning exercise of the stairs.  We loved the warmth and sunshine, the meals we didn’t need to prepare, the pools and ocean beaches with hours to relax. And we loved that we knew our kids were in great hands!

Two busy days

Image
We came home from the convention on Saturday, March 4 after 3 nights away. We picked up the kids, and unpacked, did groceries and enjoyed a wee bit of family time. Monday Dad went to Langley to pick up Tonisha and Hazel. I tried to do laundry and clean and organize my house and food/meals and pack for Mexico.  Caleb’s last CCJHL game was that night. He scored for us. But it wasn’t enough for his team to move on in playoffs, which meant we wouldn’t miss out on seeing him play. Kind of good…  From there we went to Vancouver, ready to head to Mexico early on Tuesday morning.

Book Character Day-Or Not

Image
Elise wanted to be Pippi Longstocking for Book Character Day. So I made her this costume way ahead of time, knowing Dad and I would be in Mexico on the actual day.  Sadly, she was sick that day and had to stay home. She didn’t mind too much though- Hazel and Tonisha were with her!    Luke dressed up as Nathan J Riggins from a western adventure series. This photo was taken from a quick video he sent me in Mexico.

Last Day of Fungicide!

The last dose was finally down! Elise said she was happy enough to kiss “anything.”

February Cold and Cursive

Image
Elise is a crafty girl and she loves lettering. No big surprise that she wants to know to to write in cursive and practices a LOT! I loved what she wrote on my glass family room table. ❤️ We also had a pretty good snowstorm. Of course, the snow was only nice when it was really too stormy cold to enjoy. It was beautiful though.
