The Educational MiniBarn

Image
I had to babysit these guys for an afternoon before the minibarn trailer was ready for them. Aside from the poop, it was kind of fun!

Goodbye, Date Day and Back to School

Image
This was the heartbreaking end of summer. We had to say goodbye to Stacy and Braedan after having them here all summer. Elise threw up from crying. 😢 It is very hard.  Thankfully school started up and was a great distraction for the kids. Luke started Grade 8 with Mr. Rekers and Elise entered Grade 3 with Miss Lanting.  Meanwhile Dad and I had an adventure up East Harrison to find the hot spring up there. It was a long drive! But we enjoyed our day very much.

Harvest Success

Image
What a haul! I was a successful gardener this summer. Dennis dug out the clay dirt around the flagpoles and put in rich soil. My seeds grew into a garden to be proud of. I know now that I shouldn’t plant six zucchini seeds. I also should properly read seed packages while wearing glasses to avoid surprises like round zucchinis (which Oma researched for me to figure out what on earth they were)and snij bonen (scarlet runners) instead of green beans. The Swiss chard and beets, the leek and lettuce, all were fantastic.  Luke worked on the zucchinis and Elise had a great time doing the beets.  The flies were rather annoying, so Elise solved the problem for us. 😂

Hobby Lobby

Image
Stacy, Elise and I went to the Hobby Lobby in Bellingham. It was a great, great store to shop in. Hours of browsing and no one got bored. We loved this place!

Visitors

We had a fun visit with Auntie Di’s family, Jill, and Opa Joop and Tante Grace.

Harrison Lake

Image
What a beautiful gift of a day! We took our boat to Harrison Lake for the first time, and met up with Voorhorsts for coffee at this waterfall. Gorgeous! We had to wade in quite deep water to get to it, but they shared their paddle board with us and made it worthwhile.  The water was great for skiing and kneeboarding, too.

Best Friends Photo Shoot

Image
After riding horses, the boys hung out at home while I took the girls to Bridal Falls. They were feeling photogenic, so I became their photographer. I promised Lacey I would print some of these for her- and I did.

Horse Riding

Image
For Luke and Elise’s birthdays, I took them and their best friends horseback riding. Even I rode! It was amazing, even though we had to have our horses led. Now the kids want to learn how to ride independently.
