Visiting the Kanis Family


It was quite fascinating to visit this family. They have adopted two kids and foster three, in addition to babysitting several grandchildren. They milk a cow and have many other animals to care for and eat. Elise was grumpy and didn’t try to join in, but once I handed her over to Uncle Ted, she melted into a snuggly sweetheart. She absolutely loved him. 

Carol showed me her kombucha and fed us all dinner of soup and buns. We watched her and Ted milk the cow. Most of the animals and the gardens are hers; she loves homesteading. She’s amazing!

National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

Deciding that Truth and Reconciliation were really not our issue, we went to PG to enjoy a long weekend with Jared’s family. Even Caleb came along! The men went to work tackling the winter wood supple while we ladies ran the home front. I did get to try the log splitter, but Luke, with his broken arm, was very busy with that job when he wasn’t driving the tractor. By the end of the day, the logs were beautifully stacked. Caleb had this responsibility and did a great job.

Little things

Campground map- very helpful  Dad and I snuck off for one walk together in the week. It was fun! And beautiful.  Family photo❤️ The whole group! It was wonderful to camp together.  Val doing paddleboard headstands. Impressive! The kayaks were well used.  The Nature House always had interesting things for Elise, plus some neat programs. Most of us went to one on bears.  Joshua is so loved! Uncle Luke absolutely loves being an uncle.
